You can transport up to three children or your weekly shop in the permanently fitted box made of environmentally-friendly materials. Ride effortlessly around town, thanks to its small turning circle and low centre of gravity. In plain terms, it is the Packster2 70 set up for serious family use. Two children can ride up front in the double child seat, the Buggy cover helps keep wind and rain off the passengers, and the long 70 cm box gives you useful space for school bags, groceries and all the small bits that somehow travel with children. The child area is not just a box with seats added in. It is a properly integrated, shielded passenger space with half-height side walls, a sturdy aluminium Buggy frame and a polypropene roof structure around the children. The double child seat has five-point belts, an adjustable sitting and sleeping position, and a continuous headrest made from 100% recycled material. The headrest can also be folded down into the box when needed, so the cargo space stays useful when you are not carrying passengers. For families carrying children every day, this is the big reason to choose the Packster2 70. It feels calm, contained and purpose-built, especially on busy streets, school runs and rougher Wellington roads where a bit more structure around your passengers is very welcome. Buggy weather protection (images 3, 4, 5) The Buggy option gives the front box half-height side walls and a pedal step, so passengers can get in and out more easily. The aluminium frame supports a sturdy polypropene roof, which also helps form part of the protective structure around the passenger area. The permanently fitted cover is water-repellent and made without PVC film material. The side walls have tinted viewing windows and can be partially or fully rolled up depending on the weather. A rear wall is tucked under the roof and can be connected to the side walls with a Velcro strip to help protect passengers from wind and rain. Made for hills, wind and heavy days The Bosch Cargo Line motor is there for the work that matters on a cargo bike: hill starts, loaded riding, headwinds and getting home without turning the school run into a gym session. The DualBattery 1500 setup gives this bike a lot more riding margin for longer commutes, hilly routes, higher assist use and carrying children or cargo. The Enviolo continuous hub gear keeps shifting simple, especially when the bike is loaded or you are rolling through stop-start traffic. The Gates CDX belt drive reduces drivetrain wear compared with a chain, which suits a cargo bike that may see wet roads, daily use and plenty of kilometres over time. Performance kit This configuration includes the Performance kit, which adds stronger cargo braking, upgraded lighting and a suspension seatpost. The Tektro TRP C 2.3 cargo brakes are made for the repeated braking loads that come with a heavy electric cargo bike, while the Supernova M99 Mini Pro headlight and Supernova rear light with brake light improve visibility and confidence in darker conditions. The suspension seatpost helps take the edge off rough roads, raised crossings and the usual Wellington surface lottery. It is a small detail that matters when the bike is being used every day. Carrier and glove compartment lock The rear carrier uses the MIK system, giving you a quick and stable way to click compatible baskets, panniers and accessories into place. It adds extra carrying options behind the rider, which is useful when the front box is full of passengers. The glove compartment lock replaces the standard magnetic closure and uses the same key as the battery lock and ABUS frame lock. Good for small items you want tucked away safely while you are out and about. Best for This setup suits families who want a serious school-run and daily transport bike with weather protection already sorted. Choose it if you want to carry two children, handle Wellington hills with a load, keep the drivetrain simple to live with, and still have room for groceries, bags and the extra stuff that appears from nowhere. Our take This is the Packster2 70 configuration we would point at for families who want the most safety-focused front loader in our range. The Buggy and double child seat create a properly shielded passenger space, with five-point belts, half-height side walls, a sturdy aluminium frame and weather protection that makes the bike feel ready for real daily use. It is also built for the long haul. The Bosch Cargo Line motor gives strong support for hills, headwinds and loaded riding, the Enviolo hub gear keeps shifting simple, and the Gates belt drive reduces drivetrain wear compared with a chain. The 1500 Wh dual battery will easily travel big distances say from the Hutt the town, and back. Add in the Performance kit with cargo-specific braking, stronger lighting and a suspension seatpost, and you get a family cargo bike that feels considered from front to back.
