2006 Christmas Ornament – Winter Riders
2006 Mort Künstler Collectible Ornament Winter Riders This beautiful ornament features Mort Künstler’s painting Winter Riders. Mr. Künstler states “I love painting snow scenes and night scenes, so working on Winter Riders was a delight for me. I wanted to do a unique painting that symbolized North Carolina’s role in the Civil War. After several visits to Raleigh, the concept for Winter Riders emerged. I learned that the capital was blanketed with snow on February 5, 1863, so that was the date I picked to paint this scene. Featuring Confederate troops and civilians, it represents North Carolina’s major contribution to the war: its people.” No more than 7,500 of this eleventh in a series of ornaments will be produced. The ornament is completed with a 24 karat plated over brass border. A stand is included with each ornament so that it may be placed on a table or hung on your tree. Each ornament will be shipped with a signed certificate of authenticity and is packed in a blue presentation box with black felt backing and finished with blue ribbon. This ornament has been produced and issued exclusively by Timber Ridge School. The School serves emotionally disturbed and learning disabled male students between the ages of 11 and 19. Funds for the improvement of campus programs and facilities are raised through the sale of ornaments. Mr. Kunstler has been a very generous supporter of the school by donating the use of a piece of his artwork for 25 of our ornaments.
