Beginners 10 Week Course
This 10-week course is designed for absolute beginners who wish to learn the basics of jewellery making with a view to making their own pieces. Many students have extended their learning through our advanced jewellery course and gone on to set up their own businesses in jewellery design and making. Full details of the course content will be discussed during the first session, along with an introduction to the workshop, the gallery and all facilities. You can expect to learn through making. Processes and skills will be demonstrated which you will then practice through set projects and the completion of finished pieces. The skills covered through the course include how to get a design onto metal, drill, saw piercing, file, solder silver, add texture, forming, stone setting, enamelling, and finishing techniques. You will make three stacking rings, to your own design, using some or all of the skills learnt. The gallery is stocked with work from over fifty established jewellers from across the UK providing an extensive library of examples and context. You will be guided every step of the way on your jewellery journey by our experienced tutors. Location: 39 Southside Street The course is held in the workshop above the gallery and is limited to 4 people. Please note the cost of the course is non-refundable. A refund may be made, only if your place can be filled. Flexible payment plans are available, please contact the gallery for more information. Health and safety are covered on day one and you will be emailed a week or so before the course start date with a reminder and further details about the course. The course includes a break for half term. Please feel free to call Victoria or one of the staff to discuss the course on: 01752 220011 Visit our Instagram page here to view pictures of students work
