Looking out into the fading brown and gray landscape of the late winter and early spring, I saw a beautiful purple blue emerging from the ground. I’d forgotten that I planted these little jewels so many months before. What a treat to see the first bit of color signaling that spring is arriving. I was especially struck by their vibrancy and detail. They only last for about a week. I purposely enlarged this tiny flower to 10 times its actual size to appreciate its beauty. Another design choice I made was to emphasize the beautiful curves and petals in this little cluster of flowers that gives it an element of movement as if they are dancing. That was the feeling it gave me of aliveness. This painting expresses the joy that these tiny exotic flowers brought on an ordinary day. This painting is on a gallery wrapped canvas with painted sides, unframed. You can hang it unframed or frame it if you wish
