Make a Mug with Emily Hett Art

Price £60 Location South Coventry - The workshops take place in my garden studio. Full address details will be sent over once you’ve booked Date & Time 8th August 10am-12.30pm A relaxed, creative 2.5 hour workshop with Emily. Perfect if you want to slow down, get a bit messy, and make something functional by hand. We’ll be making a slab-built mug, then adding your own personality through carving, texture, and decoration. You can keep it simple and clean or go a bit more expressive — using underglazes, slips, or your own drawn designs to bring your mugs to life. Everything is step-by-step, so no experience is needed at all. What to expect You’ll build your mugs from clay slabs, shape and assemble them, then spend time decorating and adding detail. After the session, your work will be fired and ready to collect within 3-4 weeks. A few studio notes The studio is outdoors, so it does vary with the weather — warm in the summer and quite cool in the winter. Please come in layers so you can stay comfortable and adjust as needed. Clay does wash out, but I’d avoid wearing anything you’re particularly precious about. Just something relaxed that you don’t mind getting a bit messy. Firing One of the realities of working with clay is that pieces can occasionally crack or change in the kiln. It doesn’t happen often, but it is part of the process. Everything is handled with care, but I can’t guarantee every piece will come through perfectly. Accessibility At the moment, the studio isn’t wheelchair accessible.
