This colorful scarf/cowl can be a lovely fashion accessory. In this class we will make an infinity scarf or cowl while learning how to knit colorwork in the round. Attendees can choose to make this pattern using two colors or three. We will meet for FIVE sessions in this class, but attendees should complete all knitting before the final session. Skills we will focus on in this class ● Provisional cast on method ● Magic loop and joining in the round ● Fair isle knitting ● Laddering down with a crochet hook to correct errors ● Kitchener stitch (grafting) Skill level: Advanced beginner knitting; beginning crochet When: Sundays May 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 from 1-3 pm Instructor: Lindsay Anderson Fee: $100 PREREQUISITES: ● Knitting in stockinette with consistent tension and ability to read your knitting. ● Ability to knit in the round on circular needles. Double pointed needles are not a suitable alternative for this project. ● Experience or practice knitting both continental and English styles before class. ● Make 100 chains in waste yarn using a G/4 mm crochet hook before the first class session. Materials: More details are sent when you register for the class ● Yarn - Sport weight yarn held single OR baby weight held together with a lace weight yarn (such as mohair) For the cowl length: ■ Two-color option: approx 252 yds of color 1 and 199 yds of color 2 ■ Three-color option: approx 126 yds of color 1, 126 yds of color 2, and 199 yds of color 3 ■ If holding yarn with mohair lace, you’ll need approx 460 yds of mohair ○ For the scarf length: ■ Two-color option: approx 440 yds of color 1 and 325 yds of color 2 ■ Three-color option: approx 220 yds of color 1, 325 yds of color 2, and 220 yds of color 3 ■ If holding yarn with mohair lace, you’ll need approx 765 yds of mohair ● Needles – US 6 (4 mm) circular needles, 16” or 24” cord length ● Crochet hook - G/4 mm or slightly larger/smaller ● Pattern – “Gradient” by Jill Zielinski ● Notions – Scissors, darning/tapestry needle, 12 thin stitch markers, tape measure. ● Miscellaneous - Waste yarn (approx 2-5 yards) to make 100 chains using a crochet hook for the provisional cast on.
