It uses a permanent capacitor design, with a single run capacitor fitted. This gives a high power factor and smooth, quiet running, with limited starting torque — well suited to easy-starting loads such as centrifugal fans and pumps. Need to vary the speed? Single-phase motors of this type cannot be speed controlled by an inverter.
