Djoharian Collection · Handspun Wool · Hand-Knotted in Iran Loribaft Aghamiri Tribal Rug 247 × 165 cm · Bakhtiari An authentic nomadic masterpiece from the Bakhtiari region of south-west Iran — handspun lanolin-rich wool and pure natural dyes, drawn in the timeless Loribaft idiom. A one-of-a-kind tribal rug, knotted entirely by hand. Provenance & Tradition This exquisite Loribaft Persian rug comes from the famed Bakhtiari region of south-west Iran. As a genuine Aghamiri Loribaft, it represents a particularly fine, modern-feeling interpretation of the classic nomadic rug. Aghamiri weaving is known for its pared-back design language, joining traditional tribal motifs with a contemporary clarity. Structurally the robust, rustic knotting recalls the well-known Gabbeh rugs, but it is distinguished by a shorter, more elegant pile — an ideal companion for modern interiors that keeps the archaic charm of a true one-of-a-kind piece. Handspun Wool & Natural Dyes The pile is 100% handspun, lanolin-rich new wool, coloured exclusively with pure plant and mineral dyes drawn from roots and minerals. Hand-spinning gives the yarn a lively, natural irregularity, while the natural dyes age beautifully, so the rug develops a wonderful patina over the years. The pile is kept short and elegant for a Loribaft, making it easy to live with in a contemporary home. The Tribal Design A deep night-blue ground carries a column of three stepped medallions in red and green, framed by bold red borders with zigzag and geometric guard stripes. Scattered across the field are the joyful signatures of nomadic weaving — stylised animals such as ibex and birds, small crosses and tribal figures, each knotted from memory rather than a cartoon. It is a lively, narrative surface that rewards a closer look. Colour The palette is warm and confident: madder red and night blue anchor the rug, lifted by green, gold-yellow and ivory in the motifs. The colours are rich yet naturally muted by the plant dyes, giving the piece its characterful, lived-in depth. Presence in the Room At 247 × 165 cm (4.08 m²) this is a versatile medium-size rug — a true 5 × 8 ft format: Living room: a warm, characterful centrepiece in front of a sofa or under a coffee table. Bedroom: a soft wool surface beside or at the foot of the bed. Study or hallway: a robust, story-telling floor for a space with personality.
