Special Edition: CalmGreen Baucher Snaffle

The CalmGreen mouthpiece pairs a stainless steel barrel link carrying copper with rubber-covered cannons. The cannons rotate around the barrel link with minimal inward collapse, giving a feel closer to a mullen mouth. This places more pressure on the bars and less on the tongue than designs with inward movement, and suits horses that prefer stability and a softer, non-metal feel. The Baucher, or hanging cheek, holds the bit in a fixed, stable position in the mouth. Contrary to popular belief it applies no poll pressure under contact. That stability makes the rider's aids clearer and is often preferred by nervous horses, horses with sensitive bars, and horses that dislike the weight of the bit resting on the tongue. Rubber gives a soft, warm, non-metal feel that many horses sensitive to metal accept more readily.
