Victorian Double Inkwell Standish

This striking Victorian brass double inkwell standish dates from circa 1890 and is designed in the Gothic Revival style. Featuring twin turret-form inkwells, pierced quatrefoil galleries, and finely detailed engraved decoration, it reflects the rich decorative taste of the late nineteenth century. Originally intended for use on a writing desk, the stand incorporates two lidded inkwells with fitted brass reservoirs, together with a shaped pen tray to the front for storing writing implements and desk accessories. The architectural design and intricate detailing make it an especially decorative example.
