New York Unkown (rooted)
We are not sure of the origins of this fig hence the unknown name. We acquired this through a family member who lives in up state New York who found this on a property they bought. We will update the description as we taste the figs that this produces. If you love collecting unknown figs this would be a great one to add. Latin Name: Ficus carica Site and Soil: Figs thrive in 1/2 day to full sun and well-drained soil. Pollination Requirements: self-fertile. Bearing Age: 1-2 years after planting. Size at Maturity: 8-10 ft in height, smaller with pruning. Bloom Time: Flowers are not noticeable as they are inside the fruit. Ripening Time: Late August – September. Yield: 10-20 lbs. or more per plant. Pests & Diseases: Figs are generally pest and disease resistant. Cover plants with netting if birds are a problem. USDA Zone: 6 (minimum)
