Beyond its striking beauty, the Chinese Money Plant is incredibly rewarding to grow. It regularly produces baby plants, affectionately called "pups," making it one of the easiest houseplants to propagate and share with family and friends. As your plant grows, so can your collection. Perfect for shelves, desks, plant stands, or bright windowsills, the Pilea brings a fresh, minimalist touch to any space while remaining wonderfully easy to care for. Its distinctive shape and vibrant green foliage make it a natural conversation starter and a favorite among plant lovers of every experience level. This plant requires very little water and prefers to stay on the drier side rather than the wetter side. Water about once a week during the summer and less frequently during the winter, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. Never let the plant sit in standing water, as this can cause root rot. If you notice brown or curling leaves, it is usually a sign of underwatering, improper watering, inadequate lighting, or temperature stress. Place your plant in medium to bright indirect light. It grows best in temperatures around 60°F (16°C) or slightly warmer. Because this plant enjoys humidity, use Lyfe Mister and mist it a few times each week. Repot every two years, moving it into a container that is one size larger than its current pot. During the growing season, fertilize once a month using Lyfe Nutrient Fertilizer. This plant is easy to propagate. If you see pups growing from the soil, wait until they are at least 2" tall before carefully separating them from the parent plant. If pups are growing directly on the plant, gently remove them and place them in a Lyfe Propagation Station filled with water. They should develop roots within about two weeks. Once the roots are established, transplant them into individual nursery pots filled with fresh potting mix.
