Shou Sugi Ban Bamboo and Stone Coffee Table, 1980s

Shou Sugi Ban bamboo coffee table with a tessellated stone top and leather-lashed joints, 1980s. A refinished bamboo base treated in the Japanese charred-wood style, where the surface was carefully burned, brushed clean, and sealed to create the dark burnt finish. 53 inches wide by 30 inches deep by 18 1/4 inches tall. Good age-related wear and surface variation throughout, consistent with use, ding at one corner.
