Vintage Fabric Lumbar Pillow Cover — 12" x 20" Lumbar

Add your own insert, or order one separately. The fabric was woven in the 1960s and 70s as upholstery for commercial aircraft interiors — sample yardage developed by mills for Boeing's airline customers, built to survive a decade of daily use at 30,000 feet. Most of it never made it into service. The color shifts every six to eight inches across the width, so no two covers are alike even in the same print. Each one is cut to place those shifts across the face of the pillow. At twenty inches wide, the lumbar shows two full color changes — the size that does the most justice to how these fabrics were designed. Details 12″ × 20″ lumbar — a harder size to find than a standard square Face: vintage wool and nylon airline upholstery. Back: solid velvet Hidden zipper closure Machine washable Cut and sewn by hand in Seattle, WA on industrial machines restored by Crystalyn Small batch — each cover is one of a kind Cover only; insert sold separately Care Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle. Hang to dry — no dryer, no bleach. The cover unzips and washes flat. These fabrics were specified for commercial aircraft use and have already lasted sixty years. Fabric quantities are finite and cannot be reordered. When a print sells out, it's gone.
