Early American Pine Dry Sink Cabinet

Painted pine dry sink featuring a rectangular open basin above a case fitted with a single drawer over two paneled cabinet doors. The interior is divided into two storage compartments, with a fixed shelf behind the left door and a full-height storage compartment behind the right. The piece retains its original paneled doors, decorative pressed-metal drawer pulls and escutcheon, iron hardware, and molded top and base trim. Dry sinks such as this were used before the widespread adoption of indoor plumbing, providing a practical workspace for washing and food preparation while concealing water buckets and household supplies below. Dry sinks became a common fixture in American kitchens throughout the 19th century, combining workspace and concealed storage into a compact cabinet intended for everyday domestic use.
