La Closerie Les Beguines

A profound Pinot Meunier Champagne from Jérôme Prévost, showing just how compelling this often overlooked variety can be. First released in 1998, Les Béguines comes from two hectares of low yielding, mature Pinot Meunier in Gueux, a village outside Champagne’s better known Grand Cru sites. Jérôme Prévost harvests as late as possible to capture the variety at full ripeness, resulting in a Champagne with remarkable depth and vinous character. The 2022 vintage is unusually expressive, shaped by a hot, dry season. Rich and concentrated, it offers dark fruit, savoury depth and fine texture, while bright acidity keeps everything balanced and fresh. With only 2g/L dosage and disgorged in August 2024, this is a serious, long lived Champagne that will reward time in bottle.
