1964 Fender Stratocaster, White Refin

1964 Fender Stratocaster, in a White refinish offering a great route into pre-CBS Strat territory with plenty of the right early-’60s ingredients. This example has been fully refinished in White, with traces of one nail hole still visible and paint present within. The guitar retains a great look overall, with its spaghetti logo, 3-patent decal, mint guard, clay dots and veneer rosewood fingerboard. The neck is dated Dec 1963 and has a veneer rosewood board with clay dot inlays. It measures 41.9mm at the nut, with a depth of 21mm at the 1st fret and 25.1mm at the 12th, giving it a comfortable feel in the hand, a touch on the larger side for this period with a little more depth as you move up the neck. Hardware includes correct single-line Kluson tuners, though half of the B-string tuner shaft has broken off. The guitar also retains its correct mint green guard, correct knobs, correct Pat Pend saddles, correct trem block and bridge. Electrically, it has the correct CRL 3-way switch and 3 Stackpole pots. Both tone pots are coded 304 6403, dating to week 3 of 1964, while the volume pot code is beneath solder. The neck pickup has been rewound, and the neck pickup cavity has been routed slightly deeper. The middle and bridge pickups are correct in appearance, though the bridge reading is on the hotter side and may also have been rewound. Pickup readings are 6.44k at the neck, 5.9k in the middle and 6.56k at the bridge. The result is a very usable pre-CBS Strat with plenty of period-correct character, and a very cool look. All in all, a great player-grade, spaghetti logo Strat for under £10k.. what's not to like?! Comes with a period correct Selmer case.
