OverviewThe CHIHAI MOTOR CHF-BL480 Entry Series is a compact brushless DC motor with integrated control electronics, a purple CNC aluminum-alloy housing and a steel bevel pinion. Choose a short or long shaft and one of four speed versions to match the available space and drive requirements of your hobby mechanism. Features Brushless construction avoids carbon-brush wear and brush dust. Ball-bearing support and UH-grade neodymium magnet material. Built-in controller with a 32-bit CPU and a specified 4 ms response. Six low-resistance MOSFETs support short phase-current pulses up to 120 A for less than 200 ms; this is not a continuous input-current rating. Integrated undervoltage, overtemperature, stalled-rotor and load-adaptive dynamic-undervoltage protection. Fixed steel bevel pinion and spring shown in the product photographs. Configuration GuideBoth shaft lengths are offered in every speed version below. Speeds are voltage-specific reference values, not guaranteed loaded operating speeds. Match the shaft length, pinion engagement, mounting space and electrical requirements before installation. This is a test-condition reference, not a maximum motor temperature or a guarantee for other loads. The advertised 90+ cycle-efficiency figure compares actual cycling rate with a theoretical rate calculated from motor speed and gearing; it is not electrical conversion efficiency. Low heat rise, rapid startup and low stopping resistance depend on the complete mechanism and operating conditions. Installation and Use Use a suitable DC supply for the selected motor. The 3–24 V range on the generic instruction sheet covers other motors and is not an operating range for this CHF-BL480. Observe the marked positive and negative terminals. Verify wiring and test with temporary leads before permanent connection. Avoid stalls and operation close to the mechanical load limit. Protection circuitry does not eliminate the risk of overload damage. Actual speed decreases as load increases. Confirm the required torque and speed for the mechanism; no numeric torque rating is specified here. Reduced speed can reduce available torque. Operating sound varies with speed and load. Check pinion engagement and shaft clearance before running the motor. ApplicationsFor hobby and toy drive mechanisms designed around this motor's bevel pinion and short or long shaft arrangement. A 480-size name alone does not establish drop-in compatibility with a particular gearbox or device. What's Included1 × CHIHAI CHF-BL480 brushless motor in the selected shaft and speed version, with the illustrated pinion and spring. Battery, wiring, external mechanisms and tools are not included. FAQDoes the speed option mean KV?No. The options are RPM values at 11.1 V. The separate 7.4 V reference speeds are listed in the configuration table. Are the short and long shaft versions the same overall length? No. The illustrated overall lengths are 72.5 mm and 87 mm respectively; both have a 51.5 mm body.Does 120 A mean continuous motor current? No. It describes a controller phase-current pulse shorter than 200 ms and must not be used as a continuous supply-current rating.Visual DetailsShort and long shaft configurations; 29,000 RPM versions are illustrated.CNC aluminum-alloy housing, ball bearings and steel bevel pinion.Body: 51.5 mm long and 29.5 mm diameter.
