South Shishangeni Lion • 14 x 11

Meet the South Shishangeni Male... He’s one of the oldest known male lions in Kruger National Park today. Over his remarkably long life, he has wandered out of the park, been darted and relocated, and lost three separate coalitions, and he’s still standing strong. I was lucky enough to see him in 2019, and I wanted to paint him the way I remember him: in his prime.
