Vintage Stacked Disc Sterling Silver Ring by Elis Kauppi for Kupittaan Kulta
A striking vintage silver ring by Elis Kauppi for the Finnish silver house Kupittaan Kulta. The top consists of four hollow silver discs placed above each other in a stepped and staggered arrangement. From every angle, the composition looks different: from above, the discs form an abstract pattern, while from the side you can better appreciate the height of the design. The recessed areas have a dark patina, making the individual shapes stand out more. The combination of polished silver, dark shadows and the floating construction makes this a particularly recognisable example of Finnish modernist design. With a height of approximately 1.4 cm, this is clearly a statement ring. The open ring band is currently size 54 and can be carefully resized larger or smaller. To avoid unnecessarily stressing the silver, frequent bending is not recommended. The ring is marked with the Kupittaan Kulta maker's mark and the silver fineness 925. The ring is in good vintage condition. The top has been well preserved and shows normal superficial signs of wear. More noticeable scratches and a few small dents are visible on the underside of the ring band.
