Once the wax starts to melt around the base of the wick, tip parallel and test the first drops on your own forearm before the canvas. Avoid inverting the candle, hold parallel to the canvas and rotate in the hand to melt wax evenly. Height controls temperature. Higher is cooler, lower is hotter. Build from there, one deliberate drop at a time. In our testing and in customer feedback, metallic finishes run a little warmer than standard paraffin. Keep an eye on the wick as you play. Paraffin holds its heat longer than soy. Keep it moving so the wax never builds up in one place; built-up paraffin runs significantly hotter than its melting point.
