Buddleja (Buddleia) davidii Gulliver

Buddleja (Buddleia) davidii Gulliver (Butterfly Bush) Buddleja davidii Gulliver is a truly impressive butterfly bush, named for its exceptional vigour and stature. It produces some of the longest flower spikes of any davidii variety — enormous, tapering panicles of pale lilac-blue flowers with a honey-sweet fragrance that are simply irresistible to butterflies, bees, and other pollinators from midsummer through to early autumn. Few garden shrubs can match it for sheer wildlife impact during the peak of summer. Gulliver has a bold, arching habit that makes it ideal as a statement specimen or at the back of a large border, where its height and generous flower production can be fully appreciated. Like all davidii varieties, it responds well to hard pruning in late winter, which keeps it within bounds and encourages the strongest possible flowering display each year.
