English Art Pottery Floral Vase, Moorcroft Style, 15.5cm
An early 20th century English art pottery vase of baluster form with a flared, rolled rim. It is hand-painted in raised slip with large cream and blush-pink flowers, buds and leaves, with russet-brown centres and trailing stems. The decoration sits under a rich, glossy glaze that deepens from bottle green at the base to near black at the neck. The bold, painterly floral decoration on a dark ground is in the manner of Moorcroft and other English art potteries of the period. The base carries an impressed "ENGLAND" mark only, with no maker's name, suggesting a date of around 1900 to 1930. Height: 15.5cm Mark: impressed "ENGLAND" Date: early 20th century Condition: Good antique condition with no cracks or restoration. There is fine crazing to the glaze throughout, glaze wear and small nicks to the foot rim, and a couple of tiny frits to the rim edge, consistent with age. Please see photographs. Price: £30
