United States Map Print

This map might seem a little unprovocative, but I think it's actually so cool it's become cliché. But clichés are clichés for a reason. This is a classic geoghraphical design challenge. A map of the USA never goes out of style. Having lived on both coasts plus Colorado, I really feel like I know the way around the country and can appreciate this web of Americana. The US is an incredible place. There are so many wonders not named on this map because I could not possibly squeeze them all in (I tried and it looked terrible). So we went simple simple and did that classic version you learned in middle school and abruptly forgot. What's the capital of South Dakota? Pierre. Missouri? Jefferson City. This is interesting and important stuff!! These days our understanding of the country is all over the place. This map shows the simple fact that the country's design breeds diversity of thought. We sometimes think that we're very tightly bound together by a common nation, but in reality, we live in fifty different realities. We're such a young clump of states that these realities are still constantly unfolding. Simply observing this may reveal wisdom of the American condition. 8.5"x11" Letterpress Print ABOUT THE IDEA Information is more fun to read when it's beautiful. I've designed these charts and maps with hours of research, reassembling data into a brain-friendly aesthetic. I edit the information significantly, avoiding the "dazzle" effect which occurs when our eyes are battered with too much information. Letterpress makes it even more gorgeous.
