Vintage 'Mustard' Faience Oyster Plate

This is a vintage French faience oyster plate, in mustard color, circa 1960's. It makes for a perfect wall plate, or it would be a superior choice to add to an existing collection. Faience, a type of tin-glazed earthenware, has a rich history dating back to the 16th century. Oyster plates became popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, coinciding with the rise of elaborate dining customs and the popularity of seafood. Each plate measures approximately 9" in diameter, and each plate is sold individually.
