Old Smokey

The isle of Kintyre, Old Smokey cheese offers cheese lovers the aroma and taste of oak smoke, without the harsh taste of other similar cheeses. A family run business trading for over 30 years with the main farm on the Isle of Gigha. Taking its name from the Norse for ‘Gods Island,’ Gigha lies five miles off the west coast of Kintyre in the sound of Islay. Fortunate in its geographic position, the island enjoys the Gulf Stream climate and as such, palm trees and white sandy beaches. The family run a herd of Guernsey cows. The cows thrived in the favourable conditions and permitted the family to expand their cheese range. The Creamery is based in Campbeltown.
