PABLO GUERRERO
Hacienda El Obraje sits on the slope of a dormant volcano in Tangua, in the far south of Nariño, between 2000 and 2300 masl. Pablo Andrés Guerrero, an architect from Pasto, planted coffee on land his family once farmed for wheat. Of nearly 90 hectares he keeps only around 35 in coffee and has turned the rest into forest reserve. In 2021 his washed Geisha won the Colombia Cup of Excellence.Days here reach 32 °C at noon and nights fall to 8 °C or lower. That swing builds a dense bean and the clean, layered acidity this farm is known for.For this Pink Bourbon the cherries rest 40 hours in open bags before they are floated, sorted and pulped. The wet parchment then ferments 36 hours in dry sealed tanks, is washed in clean water, and dries 18 days in a parabolic greenhouse. We taste brown sugar and black tea, with honey and tropical fruit.
