Victron - MPPT WireBox (WireBox-S, WireBox-M or WireBox-L, terminal cover for SmartSolar MPPT)

The Victron SmartSolar MPPT WireBox is a steel base and cover that shrouds the DC terminals of a SmartSolar MPPT charge controller. Victron's stated purpose for it is simple: it covers all DC terminals, preventing accidental or inquisitive contact. Once the cover is on, the battery and PV terminals, the exposed conductor and the screw heads are all behind steel and plastic instead of sitting open on the wall. It is the part you add when the controller is mounted somewhere people, kids, pets or cargo can reach it. This is a fitment-specific accessory, not a universal box. Each size is cut for a particular group of charge controllers - the box is decided entirely by which controller you own, not by your panel wattage, your battery bank or your cable run. Pick the variant that matches your model number and the rest of the decision disappears. Which WireBox suits your charge controller Match your controller to the box. There is no overlap and no adaptor. WireBox-S 75-10/15 - fits the MPPT 75/10 and 75/15 only. Covers both the SmartSolar and BlueSolar versions of those two models. WireBox-M - fits the MPPT 100/30, 100/50, 150/35 and 150/45. WireBox-L - fits the large Tr models: SmartSolar MPPT 150/60-Tr and 150/70-Tr, plus the 250/60 and 250/70 Tr models. Not stocked here: the MPPT 100/15 and 100/20 each use their own small WireBox, and we do not currently carry either. If you have a SmartSolar MPPT 100/15 or 100/20, none of the boxes on this page is the right part. What it does not do - read this before you buy It does not change the ingress rating of your charge controller. This is the single most common wrong assumption about the WireBox. Victron make no ingress claim for any WireBox. It is a contact-safety cover - it stops fingers and stray metal reaching live terminals. It does not turn the controller into an outdoor part, it does not seal the cable entries, and a controller that needed a dry, protected mounting spot before the WireBox still needs one after it. It adds no fuse and no MC4 connectors. It is a terminal shroud only. Your PV isolator, your battery fuse and your MC4 terminations are all still separate items you need to plan for. Fitting it - the order matters The steel base goes onto the charge controller BEFORE the controller is mounted to the wall. The base sits between the controller and the mounting surface, so it cannot be retrofitted to a unit that is already screwed to a wall without taking that unit back off. Buy it with the controller if you can. Ordering the box at the same time saves you an install, a de-install and a re-install. Base fixing differs by size. The WireBox-S 75-10/15 base is fixed with double-sided tape, while the WireBox-M steel base is screwed. Allow for the assembled depth. The box makes the installation deeper than the bare controller, which matters in a shallow cupboard or behind a removable panel. No. Victron make no ingress claim for any WireBox and fitting one does not change the ingress rating of the charge controller. It is a contact-safety cover over the DC terminals, not a weather cover. Not without taking the controller down. The steel base has to go onto the charge controller before the controller is mounted, so a retrofit means unmounting the unit, fitting the base, then remounting. Does it include a fuse or MC4 connectors? No. The Victron WireBox is a terminal shroud only. Battery fusing, PV isolation and MC4 terminations all remain separate parts of your install.
