Cast Pumpkins - Guided Workshop (2-day)

Celebrate the Autumn season and dive into the fascinating world of kiln casting! In this 2-day guided workshop, students will learn how to transform real mini pumpkins into beautiful glass art. On day-1 students will learn a practical and easy new technique for kiln casting a solid object without using traditional methods involving clay or wax! Students will be guided step-by-step through the process of creating custom plaster molds directly from real pumpkins, then setting them up for a pot melt in the kiln to fill the molds with glass. On day-2 students will return to divest their pumpkins from their molds and coldwork the finished pieces. Each student will cast a set of 3 custom glass pumpkins perfect for decorating a fall table or mantlescape. All materials are provided for this workshop. Note that class dates are not consecutive to allow for the processes long kiln fire.
