Alba is Gaelic for Scotland, and Joe Doucet’s set is a letter to it: a crystalline bottle with a circular stopper that tilts in the conical neck, and two heavy-based glasses, each hand-engraved with a deconstructed tartan running through the base. The pattern is broken apart and re-set — a tradition handled by someone with no interest in copying it. It is the most considerable object on the shelf and the most complete gift the house offers.
