Béton Brut

Here’s the description block for Brutalist Housing Block 01. It follows the same order as Darkplace, and in keeping with the Set Pieces approach it doesn’t name the building, its architect or its city anywhere. Description (paste as plain paragraphs, no heading): Brutalist Housing Block 01 is a miniature concrete model of a raised mid-century apartment block, hand-cast in solid concrete by Spaceplay. Lift it and look beneath: the block stands on monumental supports, its rooftop forms sharp at every edge. The post-war promise of homes for everyone, and the places it made. Solid Cast-Concrete Miniature Model Size: 9.5cm long, 5.5cm high, 3.5cm deep Scale: 1:1000 (approx) Inspired by the great collective housing experiments of mid-century modernism: apartments organised within a strong concrete frame, with shared facilities built into the structure and sculptural forms on the roof. Each model is individually hand-poured, finished on a laser-etched cork base and gift-boxed. Made to order in the UK and posted within 30 days.
