When a ribbon bar is worn, additional service clasps on long service medals are represented instead by nickel-plated rosettes for up to 3 clasps. From the fourth clasp onwards, silver miniature Federation Stars replace the rosettes. Round rosette: DLSM, DFSM, ACFSM, and RFD. Oval rosette: RFM. Federation Star: all of the above. Rosettes and Federation Stars are the same regardless of royal cypher.
