Ripple Molding #234-14

A steady, fine ripple across a neat 1/2" face: the classic Dutch Golden Age frame molding, knife-scraped in solid hardwood. Ripple molding #234-14 is 1/2" wide and nearly 1/4" high. Choose maple, cherry, or walnut below. Each stick is 5 feet long. The profile From the sight edge out: bead, fillet, and torus. A crisp bead rises right at the sight edge, a flat fillet sets it off, and the fuller torus behind it carries the light out to the back edge. The ripple runs through the whole profile, so every member rises and falls together, with crests about 1/16" apart and about 1/32" deep. That is enough to catch the light and throw a soft shadow, the way the 17th-century Dutch and Flemish frames do. It runs in an old master cadence: no two waves are quite alike, each varying slightly in length and depth, as the ripples do on period frames. Ways to use it As a slim sight-edge molding or liner inside a wider Dutch-style frame As the whole frame for small paintings, prints, miniatures, and photographs On boxes, small mirrors, and panels that call for an antique look Details Width 1/2" (0.500") Height Nearly 1/4" (0.236") Stock Cut from 1/4" stock Pattern Steady ripple: crests about 1/16" apart, about 1/32" deep Cadence Old master cadence: each wave varies slightly in length and depth, as on period frames Length 5-foot sticks Woods Maple, cherry, or walnut. Unfinished, ready for paint, gilding, or your own finish Images are true-to-profile renderings in raw maple; cherry and walnut are cut to the same profile. Like the period originals, each stick shows small variations from the knife and hand finishing. That is part of its character.
