January Intermediate Wheel

Build on your wheel-throwing skills and take your work to the next level! In this four-week course, you'll explore new techniques, refine your skills, and develop greater control and intention at the wheel. Intermediate Wheel is designed for students who are comfortable with the basics and ready to challenge themselves with more complex forms and techniques. Topics may include throwing larger with more clay, creating matching multiples and nesting sets, exploring narrow-necked and closed forms, making lids, and refining your trimming and glazing techniques. Rather than following a rigid curriculum, this class offers individualized guidance based on students' interests and the skills they'd like to develop. Classes meet once a week for 2-hour sessions, with daily open studio time available for you to practice between classes. Prerequisites This is a continuing-level course. Students should already be comfortable independently centering and throwing 2–3 lbs of clay. Course Fee Includes Firing for up to 12 finished pieces measuring no more than 12" in any direction Access to studio glazes and tools Free Studio Blend reclaim clay Daily open studio access throughout the course Students who would like to work larger than 12" may do so, with additional firing charged at $0.04 per cubic inch. Attendance & Policies We strongly encourage students to attend all four class sessions, as makeup classes are not offered for this course. Classes are for adults 18 and over. Cancellations made 4 or more days before the start of the class will be refunded. For cancellations made fewer than 4 full days, but more than 24 hours before the start time, a 50% refund or 50% credit toward another class or workshop will be issued. We cannot provide refunds or credits for cancellations or rescheduling requests made fewer than 24 hours before class starts, if you miss class, or arrive too late to participate.
