Avocado - Anaheim
Anaheim is a classic Californian avocado variety that originated as a seedling in Anaheim, California, around 1910. It is a prolific and regular bearer, forming an upright, slender tree with a narrower habit than most avocados, making it a good choice for smaller gardens or closer planting where a wide, spreading tree won't fit. Anaheim is also one of the parents of the popular Reed avocado, and well-grown trees are known for producing heavy, consistent crops. Anaheim produces large, oval to slightly pear-shaped fruit with a glossy, medium-thick green skin that stays green when ripe and peels well. The flesh is smooth and creamy with a mild, fresh flavour. The fruit can be impressively large, commonly 500 to 900 g each. It's a great variety for anyone wanting plenty of big, generous fruit for slicing, salads and everyday eating.
