{2/6} Woven Reed Hearts | Introduction to Basketry

*Photos Coming Soon* Saturday, February 6 | 2pm–5pm Ages 12+ | Beginner Friendly Taught by Kandyce Galanis Description Just in time for Valentine's Day, join us for an afternoon of traditional basketry as we weave charming, rustic hearts from natural and dyed round reed. In this hands-on class, Kandyce Galanis will introduce students to the simple beauty of reed weaving, guiding them through the process of shaping and weaving their own decorative hearts. Using traditional basketry materials and techniques, we'll explore how something as humble as a bundle of reeds can become a beautiful, lasting piece of handwork. Students will have the opportunity to create hearts in different sizes, choosing a project that suits their style and home. Make three small hearts to string into a garland, two medium hearts to use as decorative trivets, or one large heart to hang as a wreath. Each project uses the same foundational weaving technique, simply adapted to a different scale. No previous basketry experience is needed. This is a welcoming introduction to a traditional craft, with plenty of room to slow down, work with your hands, and enjoy the process. With just eight students, this intimate class offers plenty of individual guidance and the opportunity to enjoy the slow, thoughtful process of learning a traditional craft. Each student will leave with a handmade project and the foundational skills to continue exploring basketry. Cancellation Policy Cancellations made at least one week before class are eligible for store credit. Within one week of class, registrations are nonrefundable but may be transferred to another participant.
