Painting Workshop — Venice Beach, January 2–4, 2027

Three days on the power of color. Venice Beach, California. Saturday, January 2 — 10am–1pm, 2–5pm Sunday, January 3 — 10am–1pm, 2–5pm Monday, January 4 — 2–5pm, followed by a dinner discussion The first morning, we break down the spatial relationships between planes in space — and see how color sculpts reality where we cannot visually rely on edges or drawing. Color, understood in its relationships, creates dimension; and that dimension infuses expression with an absolute power that drawing and value cannot reach. We will rigorously break down the craft of painting, and harness this power in our work. The final afternoon closes with a dinner discussion. No prerequisite level of painting is required. This process of absorbing the craft is intuitive, not intellectual — the only thing required is a desire to express. All supplies included.
