The Only Champion on 2 Wheels and 4 - Limited Edition Giclee Print
"The Only World Champion on 2 Wheels & 4" This drawing captures the inimitable John Surtees driving his Ferrari 1512 at the 1965 German GP held at the Nurburgring. John Surtees remains the only person in history to have won a World Championship on 2 wheels and 4. After winning four 500cc and three 350cc World Championships, Surtees made the unusual switch to car racing and debuted in F1 with Lotus in 1960 quickly after his switch to cars, such was his talent. His crowning glory came in 1964, when he won the F1 World Championship with the Ferrari 158. The 158 was Ferrari's first monocoque F1 car and was very nimble powered by the V8. It was, however, outgunned on the faster circuits so, for those, Ferrari dropped in a V12 to create the remarkable 1512. Ferrari raced the 158 and 1512 interchangeably through 1964 and 1965, taking 2 wins, 2 poles and 2 fastest laps all told. Originally rendered in pencil and pastel by fine artist Mark J Davey, this piece is reproduced using specialist, fine art giclee printing methods. Limited to 50 numbered examples and is shipped with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist.
