Why the OEM Maverick R Nut Plate Fails The stock Maverick R rear nut plates are thin steel, a single nut, and one small tack weld. The first time you pull your radius rods, there's a good chance that weld lets go. Once it spins, you're in a tough spot. We learned this lesson years ago when we used to weld nuts just like everyone else, and saw the same problems firsthand: heat from welding warps the plate, damages threads, and a broken weld means a spinning nut with no way to torque the bolt.
