Mahembe consistently produces good coffees every year and always stands out on our cupping table. Mahembe Coffee, founded by Justin Musabyimana in 2010 in Rwanda’s Western Province, began with a single wet mill on his father’s farm and has since expanded to two processing stations and three farms. The business works with over 600 smallholder farmers, mostly women and operates its largest farm, Gituntu, with 14 hectares and 45,000 coffee trees. They focus on high-quality production through careful processing methods and prioritize sustainability by using organic fertilizer from coffee pulp and water filtration systems. Justin’s son, Willy, is now involved in managing the business.
