the open seam leather gloves, have been cut from a supple full grain 3.2mm vegetable tanned, washed and tumbled reverse horse culatta leather, with a rotten corpse flat matte black dye treatment, implemented over a 72hr period. vegetable tanned leather is an ancient artisanal process that hinges on the delicate balance between timing and temperature. like a fine aged whiskey time is key, the careful balance of time allows the natural tannins such as tree bark to infuse, yielding rich colours and unparalleled durability. controlled cooling plays a crucial role in achieving that coveted texture and suppleness you come to expect. crafted with a multiple piece pattern the gloves feature deconstructed panels with an open seam construction allowing for greater freedom of movement. each of the 1668 stitch holes have been individually spaced and punched by hand, with each stitch meticulously implemented in a tonal 0.65mm hand waxed japanese linen thread over a 35 hour period without the use of machines. the gloves have been wet moulded on the hand over a 12 hour period creating a sculptured aesthetic. each piece comes in a hand made leather package. custom leathers, sizes and finishes are available upon request.
