The sign was designed for display in plumbing supply houses, hardware stores, appliance dealers, or heating contractors, highlighting Hotstream's automatic storage water heater systems during the period when residential hot water service was becoming a standard household convenience. The combination of Art Deco-inspired typography, strong contrast, and colorful appliance illustration gives the piece excellent visual presence.
