Thebai is a heavy euro strategy board game that challenges players to restore Cadmea and secure glory in mythological Thebes. Players lead noble houses competing to build the city, command warriors, and earn divine favor. Tile placement expands Cadmea and unlocks new actions, while dice are upgraded over time instead of rolled, rewarding long-term planning over luck. Players also train hoplites, promote them into commanders, manage a tight economy, and defend the gates against invading threats. Favor tracks tied to the gods add powerful bonuses and another route to victory. Designed for 1–4 players ages 14 and up, Thebai plays in about 90–150 minutes.
