Ethiopia Gesha Village Illubabor Forest Natural
Gesha Village is a world-renowned farm project in Bench Maji dedicated to producing gesha in its birthplace, Gesha. Understood to be the source of what was exported and cultivated across the world as gesha, and especially the acclaimed Panama gesha, Gori Gesha Forest is one of the most significant locales in coffee history. Now if you’re getting tired of reading the word gesha, consider how tired I am of writing it. Great news, we’re mostly done with it. At Gesha Village (GV from here on out) there is one other variety they produce, which also originates in the Gori Gesha Forest- the Illubabor Forest variety. Taken during an expedition by the Jimma Agricultural Research Center in 1974, if GV has decided that this variety is good enough to be the only gesha alternative they produce, I have nothing left to say except for this: enjoy. Okay, I’ll say just a little bit more because that tells you nothing about what to expect from this coffee. Everything you love about the fruitiness and depth of an Ethiopia natural, with the complex florals you look for in a coffee from GV. If you are, like I am, a huge fan of Ethiopian coffees, this is an absolute must-try.
