This artwork is part of a series called 'Fragments of Time'. This body of work marks a significant evolution within Paresh Hazra’s five-decade-long artistic journey. Moving away from the controlled precision of his earlier tempera and gouache paintings, these recent mixed-media and collage works embrace fragmentation, texture, layering, and spontaneity as central elements of expression. Torn surfaces, assembled textures, and gestural interventions create compositions that feel simultaneously ancient and contemporary — carrying traces of memory, conflict, erosion, and lived experience. Themes of power, survival, confinement, mythology, and the passage of time emerge through a more instinctive and open-ended visual language. These works reflect Paresh’s continuing desire to reinvent his practice while remaining deeply rooted in enduring philosophical concerns and human experience.
