Anubias Barteri var. Barteri
Anubias barteri var. barteri is a classic, hardy aquarium plant valued for its broad green leaves, sturdy growth, and exceptional ease of care. It is an excellent choice for beginners, low-tech aquariums, shrimp tanks, community tanks, and cichlid setups. This variety grows from a thick rhizome and is best attached to driftwood, rocks, or other hardscape. The rhizome should always remain above the substrate to prevent rot. Its tough leaves and slow growth make it very adaptable, even in aquariums with lower lighting and minimal maintenance. Anubias barteri does not require added CO₂ and can thrive under a wide range of water conditions. Its larger leaves make it especially useful as a midground or background accent in smaller aquariums, or as a strong focal plant in larger setups. Care Level: Easy Lighting: Low to Moderate CO₂: Not required Growth Rate: Slow Placement: Midground to Background / Attached to hardscape Propagation: Divide the rhizome Temperature: 20–28°C pH: 6.0–8.0 Important: Do not bury the rhizome. Attach the plant to rock or driftwood, or bury only the roots while leaving the rhizome exposed.
