Bee Gym

The Bee Gym is a simple, chemical-free grooming aid designed to help honeybees remove Varroa mites naturally. Placed inside the hive, the Bee Gym encourages bees to groom themselves as they move over and around its specially designed wires, scrapers and flippers. These help bees dislodge or damage Varroa mites, which then fall to the floor of the hive. Bee Gym can be left in the hive throughout the year and is best used with an open mesh floor, allowing fallen mites to drop away from the colony. It is a useful addition to a wider Integrated Pest Management approach and can be used alongside regular Varroa monitoring and appropriate seasonal treatments where needed. Ensure there is enough space for bees to move around and over the device. The Bee Gym can be cleaned periodically with washing soda to remove excess propolis, then returned to the hive. Please note: Bee Gym is a grooming aid and should not be relied on as the only method of Varroa control. Continue to monitor mite levels and follow a suitable Varroa management plan for your colonies.
