Balmenach Distillery 9 year old

The majority of Balmenach distillate is used in blending, so it is lovely to see it released as a single malt scotch whisky. A robust and meaty style, it is classed as an "old style" whisky. It works wonderfully with ex-sherry casks, which is what Claxton's has gone for in this release. Nose: Fruit cake/stollen with icing. Cheesecake. Danish pastry. Palate: Dry sherry notes with raisins in chocolate and dates. Finish: Balanced, dry and sweet finish with a chocolatey aftertaste.
