Loribaft Designer Rug Checkerboard 8 × 9 ft (280 × 258 cm) Purple & Olive | 13889
Djoharian Design · Handspun Wool · Hand-Knotted in India Loribaft Designer Rug 280 × 258 cm · Checkerboard A modern Loribaft from our Elegance by Djoharian Design line, hand-knotted in Agra, India, in handspun New Zealand wool. A bold checkerboard of purple, coral and olive squares, framed by a deep brown border — tribal craft in a graphic, contemporary key. The Checkerboard Design The whole field is a lively checkerboard of squares in purple, coral, gold and olive, set off by a single deep brown inner frame that gives the design its architecture. It is a thoroughly modern, graphic pattern — yet drawn in the warm, slightly irregular hand of a traditional Loribaft, the handspun-wool weave of the Lori tribes. The result sits happily in a contemporary interior while keeping the soul of a hand-made tribal rug. Handspun Wool The pile is 100% handspun New Zealand wool. Spinning the yarn by hand gives it a charming, natural irregularity in thickness, so each colour breathes and shifts slightly across the surface — the gentle abrash that gives a hand-made rug its depth. The pile is kept short at roughly 1 cm, and the rug is hand-knotted in Agra, India over a pure cotton foundation. Colour The palette is warm and confident: aubergine purple, coral, gold and olive green, drawn together by the dark brown frame. The squares keep the eye moving without ever feeling busy, and the colours are fresh enough to lift a neutral room yet earthy enough to feel grounded. Presence in the Room At 280 × 258 cm (7.22 m²) this is a generous, almost square room-size rug: Dining room: well suited to a medium table for six to eight, with room for chairs to stay on the rug as they are pulled out. Living room: anchors a sofa group and ties the furniture into one warm, cohesive zone. Bedroom: a soft, short-pile wool surface for a warm start to the day.
