The cap sits over the dish and its six holes control airflow across the surface. Restricting the air that way keeps vapour in contact with the hot titanium for longer, so you get more from a lower temperature instead of scorching everything at full heat. What are the fins for? The machined ridges around the body increase surface area, so heat sheds from the outside of the nail rather than travelling straight down into your rig's glass joint.
